Making progress

So after eight small squares, one big square, and a border, this is what I have a far. Once I find the link to the pattern I'm using I'll post it. But I'm altering it a bit anyways, like I usually do. But so far I love how it looks.

All that's left now is a border around the other four motifs, a border around the large front motif, the band for the sides and the bottom, the strap, then stitch it all together.

I need to find an easy tutorial as to how to make a fabric liner for it. I don't have a sewing machine so the simpler the better. Anyone got anything?

Next project

Here's a peek at what I'm working on next.  Yes, I'm still doing the pink and blue scarf set along with another white scarf for a friend of mine, but I like having a few projects going at once so I can have some variety.

I'm so happy I was able to find some Rowan All-Season Cotton yarn on sale. This stuff is nice. But I wish I had gotten some pink too. Maybe in my next order..  :)

Oh, and these squares will eventually be a messenger bag. Four for the front panel, four for the back panel, then four for the front flap. Although, I'm thinking for the front flap maybe make one big square, just repeating the colors or two rows of each. Not sure yet.  Thoughts?

Ribbon Belt (how to)

Ribbon Belt Tutorial

Lion Brand Incredible (any color) - 1 ball
2 D-rings (I think mine were 1")
L hook
1.5 hours

Crochet a chain the length of a belt you regularly wear, but make sure you do not stretch the chain out too much. Mine was about 108 links. This will be the foundation for the bottom of the belt.
*After making this and wearing it, it stretched out a few more inches, so plan accordingly*

When you have the chain at the desired length, make a loop thru both d-rings, put the hook thru, yo then pull thru both loops. Do this two times, keeping the ribbon somewhat tight against the d-rings, and working from the bottom up. The second one counts as the ch-1 between rows.
 (loop thru)

(yarn over)

(pull thru both loops)

(repeat)  counts as you ch-1

Row 1: sc in each top chain across
Don't worry about the rings sliding around too much just yet; as you do more rows they will start to stay in place. But keep the tension tighter at that end so it holds them better.

Completed foundation chain and row 1

Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc in each ch across

(Row 2 cont): when at the end, make a loop thru both d-rings, put the hook thru, yo then pull thru both loops; do this twice again

Second time counts as your ch-1

 Row 3: repeat row 1

Row 4: repeat row 2

Row 5: repeat row 1

(If you have bigger d-rings, just keep repeating the rows until it is as wide as you want it to be)

Finish off and weave in ends

 Not too bad.  :)

Ribbon belt

Made up this pattern on my own, and it only took about an hour and a half to make it.  I'll post instructions in the next day or two.  :)

Casual Scarf

This is my version of the casual scarf found here:
marloscrochetcorner

For some reason it's a little bit diagonal and I don't really know why.  But I like it, and it's a gift for my second mom over in Ukraine, so it will be nice and warm. :)

And the finished product.  The little bit of yarn on the right is all that's left of the two skeins.

Latest projects

These are pretty much all of my completed projects to date.  Most of these patterns I got online, but some I altered a bit and some I ended up making them my own way.
When I can find the links again I'll post them.

So far so good I guess..  :)

Table piece

Phone case

Double colored scarf for my sister

Small notebook or ebook case

Scarf, hat and fingerless gloves set (only 2 skeins)

Patchwork bag

Scarf for my mom (1 skein)

Scarf for my other mom (not finished)

Ribbon scarf (2 balls)

Crochet Blog?

So I was thinking about this a little while ago, to maybe start a crochet blog. Most patterns I find for free online, so I could post pics of my results, as well as the link back to the original. And I'm also starting to try my own patterns, and I would love to post those and get feedback.
Maybe I can make this happen..
